LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team completed a four-game sweep of Chaminade with a 9–6 win on Wednesday evening at Freedom Field, fueled by a seven-run third inning and a strong offensive performance.
After two scoreless innings, the Eagles broke the game open in the third. Biola strung together seven runs on seven hits, highlighted by RBI singles from Lillianna Garcia and Madison Duncan, a two-RBI double from Kennadie Tsue, and an RBI single from Leilani Salgado. The explosive inning gave Biola a commanding 7–0 lead.
Biola added to its lead in the fourth inning when Natalie Kim delivered an RBI single to extend the advantage to 8–0.
Chaminade responded in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on a pair of doubles to cut the deficit to 8–3. However, the Eagles answered in the bottom half as Kendall Nakano drove in a run with a single to make it 9–3.
In the circle, DJ Symons earned the win after pitching 5.1 innings and allowing three runs while striking out six. Kayla Bousquette entered in relief and closed out the game despite a late push from the Silverswords.
Chaminade made things interesting in the seventh inning with a three-run home run, but Biola held on to secure the 9–6 victory.
The Eagles finished with 14 hits in the game. Garcia, Duncan and Tsue each drove in two runs, while Nakano and Salgado added RBIs to round out the offense.
With the win, Biola improved to 22–15 on the season and 15-4 in the PacWest Conference.
