Eagles Shut Out APU in Game Three

The Biola Eagles shutout APU 5-0 in the third game of their four-game series.

AZUSA, Calif.---The Biola softball team shutout Azusa Pacific 5–0 at the Cougar Softball Complex.

The Eagles broke through in the fourth inning when Lillianna Garcia launched a two-run home run to give Biola a 2–0 lead. The long ball proved to be the difference early as both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings.

Biola added insurance in the seventh, stringing together timely hits to extend the lead. Izabella Larson walked with bases-loaded to score the Eagles' third run and then Lizzie Byer followed with a two-RBI single to push the advantage to 5–0.

In the circle, DJ Symons was dominant, tossing the complete-game shutout. The left-hander allowed just four hits while striking out three and issuing no walks, keeping the Cougars off balance all game.

Offensively, Byer led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Garcia added two RBIs on her home run. Biola totaled five hits and capitalized on key opportunities to secure the win.

With the victory, the Eagles improved to 23-15 overall and 16-4 in the PacWest Conference.
