FRESNO, Calif. — Biola Women's Water Polo won its third match in a row and kept its undefeated mark up in conference competition with a 19-5 drubbing of Fresno Pacific on the road Friday night.
The win makes Biola 10-0 all-time against Fresno Pacific, while the 14-goal margin of victory is Biola's biggest win ever over the Sunbirds. The Eagles built their offense consistently throughout the game with at least four goals in each quarter, highlighted by a 6-1 effort in the game's final frame.
The match was never in doubt as Biola scored the game's first three goals and led 9-1 at one point in the first half. Gwendolyn Pidd was once more the leading goal scorer for Biola as she accounted for over one-quarter of the team's tallies with five. Stephanie Rodriguez was next with a hat trick in a 4-point effort.
Head Coach Sarah Ramirez had the chance to play both of her goalies in this one, with freshman Fernanda Luna leading the way with seven saves and Clara McKee anchoring the pipes during Biola's most dominant quarter in the fourth.
A high point from this total team effort was a two-goal game for Sofia Lazzarini Orlandi. She had a goal in the second and a goal in the third to tab her first multi-goal contest since Feb. 15.
The Eagles' offense was clicking, shooting just about 50 percent with 19 goals on 39 shots. Conversely, the team defense held FPU to just five goals on 24 shots. The massive difference in shot attempts was partly due to Biola picking up 10 steals in this one, led by two a piece from Rodriguez and Ava LoBue.
The victory helps Biola improve to 3-4 in true road matches this season and 3-0 in Western Water Polo Association play. They face UC Merced (2-14; 0-3 WWPA) for the first time on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the team's final conference road match of 2026. The Bobcats played Concordia on Friday and lost 12-5.
