Eagles Strike Gold Early In 5-1 Win

Biola scores five first-inning runs to win its third game in a row.

LA MIRADA, Calif. — A five-run first inning powered Biola to a series victory over Hawaii Pacific on Tuesday afternoon. It was a 5-1 final score in game three of the series as Kayla Bousquette picked up her 10th pitching win of the season and Lillianna Garcia hit her fourth big fly of the 2026 campaign.

With the big win, the Eagles are outscoring the HPU team 22-1 through the first three games of the series, with the series finale set to start around 5:15 p.m. at Freedome Field.

Lizzie Byer took a four-pitch walk to begin the bottom of the first for the Eagles and set the tone for an inning that saw BU hit through the lineup and manage five runs on six hits. The big hit was a one-out, two-run blast from Garcia that cleared the left-field fence by a long way.

The early offense proved to be just what the doctor ordered to get the win as Biola was limited to just one hit total over their remaining five offensive innings against HPU relief pitching.

Bousquette allowed just one base runner to the Sharks over the first two innings before she was taken out due to the Eagles having a big lead. Garcia, who was the DP, came in to pitch and chalked up two-and-one-thirds innings of her own before command issues forced Biola's staff to turn back to Bousquette.

The Eagles' ace worked out of a bases-loaded jam and then finished the game out with a pair of zeroes in the sixth and seventh innings. She would use her sixth strikeout of the game to end the game and get Biola its series-clinching win.

Garcia went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI to lead the effort for the offense. Leilani Salgado also had a positive performance, going 1-for-3 with an RBI hit.

The win moves the Eagles firmly into second place in the PacWest standings now at 10-4 so far in league play.
