No Luck Needed For Shamrock Sweep

Big moments from Madeline Granados and Cami Lara spark a game two win to complete the sweep.

LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola Softball wrapped up a series sweep at Freedom Field on Tuesday night with a decisive 4-2 win over visiting Hawaii Pacific in the fourth and final game between the two sides.

Just like in game one, the final out of the game was a Kayla Bousquette strikeout as the Eagles' top arm finished off a great start from Madeline Granados to lock up the victory. Granados went five and two-thirds innings in her second start and second win of 2026. The sophomore held the visiting Sharks to just six hits and two runs, putting up zeroes through the first five innings of work.

She was spotted a 1-0 advantage as Biola once again opened its scoring in the first period of action. The Eagles manufactured the run with back-to-back singles from Alexa Medley Sheard and Jackie Ibarra. Sheard scored on a Kendall Nakano sacrifice fly. Biola scored in the first inning in three of the four games during this series.

Biola tacked on three more insurance runs in their half of the fourth inning, with Cami Lara playing the role of pinch-hit producer for a second consecutive day. Lara had a 2-run double and then her spot would come around to score a third run on a Lizzie Byer RBI knock.

Lara had five RBI in this series, more than doubling her season total. Biola finished the contest with seven hits total, eclipsing the HPU number by one. One-third of Hawaii Pacific's hits came in their half of the sixth inning as they chipped away to cut Biola's four-run lead in half. After a few base knocks and a sacrifice fly, coach Kristin Halte gave the ball to Bousequette, who ended the HPU rally by inducing an inning-ending flyout.

Biola stranded a runner on base in their half of the sixth inning, failing to get some more insurance for their lead. It did not matter, however, because Bousquette managed to strike out the side in the top of the seventh to send Biola into the win column in style.

Bousquette pitched in three of the four games in this series, earning two wins and a save while logging 13 innings pitched, surrendering no runs and striking out 15 batters.

Biola's defense was shining bright in the series as well, with the Eagles playing error-free in three of the four contests, and today's effort was highlighted by some highlight plays from the corner outfielders and a handful of great outs facilitated from behind the plate by Ariana Banos. Biola's .979 fielding percentage this season is tops in the PacWest Conference and top-15 in the nation.

The series-closing victory makes Biola 18-15 overall now and 11-4 in PacWest Conference competition. Both win totals are the second-most in the league, with only Concordia University Irvine ahead of the Eagles.

Up next for Biola is its final Hawaiian home set. The team hosts Chaminade (5-16, 4-8 PacWest) for four games on Tuesday, March 24-25, 2026.
