Twice as Nice

Harris and Parrish-Tillman combine for 45 as Biola wins 82-70

LA MIRADA — The Biola men's basketball team took on the Chaminade Silverswords in their third game of a five game homestand. The Eagles lead for the final 35 minutes en route to a 82-70 win in Chase Gymnasium.

The duo of Chris Harris and Tyus Parrish-Tillman powered the offense with 45 combined points. Harris logged a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Parrish-Tillman, the PacWest leader in blocks, added seven more. 14 points from Charlie Gehler, including three threes boosted Biola outside shooting threat. 

In the first half, Harris got Biola off to a hot start. Ay-Keen Richardson chipped momentum buckets to keep it close. Through the first ten minutes, Chaminade found themselves up six, before an and-1 and two free throws from Harris tied it up at 24 all. Biola went on a 21-9 run to close out the half. During the run, Parrish-Tillman, Cameron Brown and Harris combined for 15 points with clutch threes coming from Gannon Dykstra and Charlie Gehler. BU had a 12 point lead into halftime.

The Eagles matched Silverswords bucket for bucket in the second half. 10 points from Parrish-Tillman through the eight minutes and Leyton Martin chipped in a huge three pushing Biola's lead to 15. In the closing 10 minutes, the Eagles saw five players enter the scoring column and go 10-for-11 at the charity stripe.

With the win, Biola moves to 9-11 overall and 5-9 in conference. The Eagles will be back against the Hawaii Hilo Vulcans on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
