Cornerstone Cup Clash

Parrish-Tillman, Eagles fall short against APU

AZUSA, Calif --- The Biola men's basketball team fell short against their rival, Azusa Pacific, in the Cornerstone Cup, 85-78 in the Felix Event Center.

The first half was a balanced battle. The Eagles shot 50 percent from the floor and capitalized off turnovers. Tyus Parrish-Tillman led BU's offense with 12 first half points followed by Cameron Brown, who chipped in nine. Garrison Sherman contributed four points and four steals, the lone bench points for Biola. Into the break, BU led 36-35.

In the second half, the Eagles found themselves behind early. As a team, Biola shot 43 percent from the floor, while APU shot 61 percent. Foul trouble proved to be costly late in the game. Back-to-back threes from Charlie Gehler provided an offensive spark as the Eagles found themselves down by two with five minutes left. Parrish-Tillman and Walker Weir made quality shots down the stretch but it wasn't enough.

Parrish-Tillman led all scorers 27 points, adding eight rebounds and two blocks. Brown and Gehler added 13 and 14 points, respectively. Chris Harris and Weir combined for 20 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in the loss.

Biola moves to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference. They will travel to Point Loma to face the Sea lions in Golden Gymnasium on Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
