Eagles Unable to Overcome First-Half Deficit

Biola drops conference contest, turns focus to Hawaii road swing

LA MIRADA --- The Biola men's basketball team was unable to overcome first half shooting struggles against the Westmont Warriors, dropping their third straight conference game, 67-55.

Tyus Parrish-Tillman secured a near double-double with 20 points, eight rebounds and added four blocks. The four other starters for Biola combined for 28 points. The Eagles struggled offensively, shooting 36 percent from the floor and 27 percent from three.

The first half was a defensive battle between the Warriors and the Eagles. Westmont played a high pressure defense through the first twenty minutes keeping the Eagles quiet offensively. Weir and Parrish-Tillman combined for 13 first half points while Ay-Keen Richardson posted three points off the bench. As a team, Biola shot 23 percent from the floor and 19 percent from three.

Out of the break, Biola was more productive on both sides of the ball, tightening the gap from 17 to nine. Parrish-Tillman led all second-half scorers with 15 points. Although the Eagles shot 55 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three, they were unable to come out with the win, losing 55-67.

Biola moves to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in conference.

The Eagles will fly to Hawaii for three straight road games, taking on the Hawaii Pacific Sharks on Jan. 20 at 8:30 p.m. PT (6:30 p.m. HT).
