Biola lights up Chase in 95–63 victory

LA MIRADA --- The Biola men's basketball team had some fun against the visiting Stanton Elks in a 95-63 win inside Chase Gymnasium. The Eagles registered a season-high 95 points with 10 players entering the scoring column. 

Chris Harris led Biola in points with 20 on 6-for-9 shooting and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Charlie Gehler and Walker Weir combined for 31, while Garrison Sherman anchored the bench, putting up a season-high 11 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Eagles shot 58 percent from the floor and 55 percent from three. 

After trading baskets to start the game, Biola went on a 32-12 run to close out the first half. Weir led BU with eight points and Gannon Dykstra posted six off the bench. The Eagles shot 66 percent from three in the first half alone and 56 percent from the floor. Biola dominated the paint and capitalized on turnovers. 

The Eagles came out firing in the second half, shooting 60 percent from the floor. BU continued to force turnovers and win the rebounding battle. 29 bench points paced the 51 total second half points scored by Biola. Gehler hit three straight threes boosting the Eagles momentum, while Harris tacked on 11 points. 

With the win, the Eagles are back to .500. They will face the Vanguard Lions after Christmas on Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
