Weir Notches Double-Double at Westmont

Walker Weir recorded a double-double in the men’s basketball team’s loss to Westmont.

MONTECITO, Calif.--- The Biola men's basketball team fell 72–61 to Westmont College on Friday night at Murchison Gymnasium.

Walker Weir posted his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Harris led Biola with 18 points on 6-for-11 shooting, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Charlie Gehler added 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Cameron Brown also had a top performance for BU, contributing 10 points and seven boards.

The Eagles stayed within striking distance throughout the first half, trading baskets and exchanging the lead nine times. Harris led the offensive charge for Biola, scoring 10 points. He was followed closely by Weir who added eight points and Gehler who scored six.

Despite Biola's steady play, Westmont closed the first half with a late run to take a 38–29 advantage into the break.

Coming out of halftime, Biola responded with energy and execution. Harris continued to score inside, and the Eagles briefly reclaimed the lead during a back-and-forth stretch midway through the second half. However, Westmont found its rhythm from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line, using a surge of offense to pull ahead by multiple possessions.

Biola battled down the stretch, but Westmont's efficiency at the stripe and timely three-point shooting proved decisive. The Warriors sealed the win in the final minutes, holding off several Eagle attempts to close the gap.

Biola moved to 4–5 overall and 1–3 in the PacWest Conference while Westmont improved to 5–4 on the season and 2–1 in conference.

Next up for the Biola men's basketball team is Stanton on Friday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. at Chase Gym.
