Behind Brown’s 28 and Parrish-Tillman’s third double-double, Biola battled to the wire against the No. 10 Sea Lions

LA MIRADA --- The Biola men's basketball team faced #10 Point Loma in their conference home opener. Despite a hard fought effort, the Eagles came up short, 74-70.

Cameron Brown led all scorers with 28 points, adding eight rebounds and one assist. Tyus Parrish-Tillman followed Brown's performance with 17 points and 11 rebounds, his third double double of the year, while Charlie Gehler posted 10 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor.

The first half featured a low scoring bout as both teams combined for 54 total points. Five ties and six lead changes kept things close but the Eagles struggled to win the rebounding battle. Scattered scoring from Garrison Sherman, Parrish-Tillman and Brown kept Biola close at the halftime break, 28-26.

Consistent shooting and equal rebounding helped draw the Eagles to within one possession in the late minutes, but key stops from the Sea Lions kept BU out of range. Parrish-Tillman and Gehler each had momentum baskets, aiding Biola's late surge. Brown scored 19 of the 44 BU second half points, ultimately falling short, 74-70.

As a team, the Eagles shot 39 percent from the floor and 29 percent from beyond the arc.

Biola moves to 4-4 on the year and 1-2 in conference.

The Eagles will be back in action on the road against the Westmont Warriors (4-4, 1-1) in Murchison Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
