Season Starts Strong

Parrish-Tillman posts a double-double as Eagles dominate in season-opening road win

Los Angeles, Calif --- The Biola men's basketball team opened their season on the road against Cal State LA. The Eagles defeated the Golden Eagles, 77-66. 

The start of the first half was back and forth, as both teams found themselves tied at seven through five minutes. A 12-3 Biola run set the tone for the rest of the game. Tyus Parrish-Tillman scored four points, Charlie Gehler and Gannon Dykstra logged three, and Facundo Aranda added two more. The Eagles went on a 26-18 run to close out the first half, shooting 56% from the floor and 71% from beyond the arc. Chris Harris, Cameron Brown and Joe Ofori all entered the scoring column, combining for 15 points. 

In the second half, BU never relinquished their first half lead. Walker Weir and Parrish-Tillman combined for 17 of Biola's 32 total points. The Eagles largest lead of the night was 27 points, when they led 66-39. Defensively, Biola out rebounded 37-30 while adding six blocks and six steals. 

Parrish-Tillman led the Eagles offensively with 17 points and 12 boards, his first double-double of the season. Brown and Gehler each added 13 points of their own. Harris had a near double-double of his own with 11 points and nine rebounds. Biola moved the ball well, totaling 20 assists as a team.

The Eagles improve to 1-0 on the season and will play at home tomorrow night against Cal State San Marcos at 7:30 p.m.
