Stellar Season Finale

Biola men’s basketball put a nice bow on the regular season with a win at Dominican.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. --- A game of multiple intriguing storylines produced a double-digit victory in BU's regular season finale. The defense dominated and the offense got the job done on the way to a 62-52 triumph over the Dominican Penguins on the road.

Biola improved its record to 17-11 overall and 12-8 in the PacWest and is locked in for its opening round matchup in the PacWest Tournament against Hawaii Hilo.

The BU defense was the highlight of the first half. The team allowed just 13 points through 20 minutes of action. The Penguins shot 15.6 percent from the field and went an 11-minute stretch without a single point. The scoreless stretch turned a 10-9 lead for DUC into a 26-10 advantage for the Eagles.

The second half saw the BU lead reach 17, before Dominican crawled back in search of an upset. The host squad managed to bring its deficit down to five with two minutes remaining but an and-one, three-point play from Christian Estrada closed the door down the stretch.

Tyus Parrish-Tillman drew his first start of the 2023-24 campaign and made the most of it. The sophomore led the team with 18 points, thanks to his work in the paint. Parrish-Tillman dominated down low, hitting eight field goals on 13 attempts, including one three-pointer. He also added seven rebounds to his performance.

A new program record in the NCAA DII era was set on Saturday, as Maximo Milovich grabbed 22 rebounds. The career-best mark for the fourth-year player secured the top spot in the conference for rebounding this season.

Milovich set the tone for the Eagles, as the team out-rebounded its foe, 50-36, on Saturday afternoon.

Casey Cappo reached double-digit points for the 20th time this season, nabbing 10 on 50.0 percent shooting from the floor.

BU will now shift its focus to the PacWest Championships, which are set to begin on March 7 at Point Loma.
