Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Ethan McGarvey, Sports Information Director

Sizzling on Senior Night

Biola men’s basketball was cooking on Saturday night, picking up a big win and securing a spot in the conference tournament.

LA MIRADA --- The final home game of the 2023-24 season for Biola (16-10, 11-7 PacWest) was a celebration. The team honored Kevin Stone and Myja White, following a dominant 79-58 win over Hawaii Pacific (17-9, 12-6 PacWest).

"We played hard tonight," said Head Coach Dave Holmquist. "We have a lot of great depth and that showed throughout the game."

The 21-point victory was the largest margin of victory for the Eagles this season in conference play.

Stone and White showed out on their Senior Night, combining for 15 points. White was strong defensively with a steal and added eight points on 3-4 shooting and two treys.

Stone gave the crowd a stir with his late-game electricity. The senior entered the game in the final minutes and did not hesitate, sinking the first two shots he took. The bench and the crowd were jumping in support, as Stone nabbed seven points, including one triple in two and half minutes of action.

Biola built its lead on Saturday with a barrage of three-pointers beginning at the end of the first half. Daniel Esparza started the rally with a long ball with 1:37 left in the opening half and White tacked on another before halftime hit. The momentum did not stop there, as Tyus Parrish-Tillman completed the 9-0 run with his own three-pointer in the first possession after the break.

Another 7-0 run bolstered the BU lead to 16 points at the 14 minute mark and the lead never dropped below double-digits again.

Five Eagles reached double figures in points including Parrish-Tillman and Nathan Medina with 15 each, Esparza with 11 and Maximo Milovich and Casey Cappo with 10 apiece.

The team as a whole put together its best outing from beyond the arc, going 11-20 for a 55.0 three-point field goal percentage. Four Eagles hit multiple threes with Medina leading the way at three triples.

Cappo picked up the double-double on Saturday pairing his 10 points with 10 boards.

Biola will hit the road for its final two games of the regular season beginning with Academy of Art on Thursday at 7:30 pm.
