IRVINE, Calif.---Alexey Prokopchuk was selected as this week's PacWest Player of the Week for his outstanding singles performance against nationally-ranked No. 24 Point Loma at the Biola Tennis Center.

Prokopchuk had a huge singles win on the first court which put his team in the position to upset the Sea Lions with a 4-3 win.

Eleven days prior to the rematch at Biola, the Eagles lost 2-4 to the nationally-ranked Sea Lions at the PLNU Tennis Center. 

In his first encounter against PLNU's Alexander Leischner, Prokopchuk lost 3-6, 0-6 in first court singles. 

On Saturday (Apr. 8), Prokopchuk lost his first set 0-6 to Leischner and came back to defeat him 6-4, 6-4 which was the game-tying match for the Eagles. 

Biola also received PacWest Team of the Week for their huge victory over Point Loma. The Eagles (10-5 overall) gave the Sea Lions (15-2 overall) their second loss of the season on Saturday.

The Eagles started off the match by winning the crucial doubles point. After losing the third court, Biola had back-to-back wins on the first and second courts. Antonio Rosales Varona and Adrian Solorzano finished first on the first court with a 6-4 win over PLNU's Tyler Davis and Leischner and then Sebastian Herrera and Callen Hein had a 6-4 win on the second court to clinch the doubles point. 

Solorzano, Prokopchuk and Hein recorded singles wins for Biola. Solorzano won 6-4, 6-2 on the third court. Prokopchuk had the game tying win on the first court and then Hein had the 6³-7⁷, 6-4, 6-1 clinching win on the sixth court to edge the Sea Lions 4-3.

The Eagles are scheduled to play next on Wednesday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. at CUI.
