Winning Effort

The Eagles utilized a short rotation on Saturday but ultimately began their Hawaii road trip with a victory.

HONOLULU, Hawaii --- PacWest play continued for the Biola Eagles (11-5, 6-3 PacWest) on Saturday, as they faced the Sharks of Hawaii Pacific (6-12, 1-7 PacWest). BU extended its winning streak to four, taking the victory by an 86-81 final margin.

The Eagles stuck to a seven-man rotation on Saturday with the game hanging in balance throughout the afternoon. Five Eagles tallied over 30 minutes on the floor with four of those five nearly logging all 40 minutes of the game.

Saturday's contest was a nail-biter from start to finish. Neither team held more than an eight-point lead on the night and the only time the Eagles hit an eight-point advantage was in the waning seconds of the game.

The Eagles made their move with eight minutes on the clock in the second half. The paint was the point of attack, as the team went on a 6-0 run. Casey Cappo took care of business with a layup and turnaround jumper to complete the rally for BU.

The rest of the way Biola maintained control of the contest. Alex Wright carried the load with six-straight points in the final minute. The senior scored on three-consecutive possessions to boost BU's lead from two to eight, essentially sealing the game for the visiting Eagles.

On the day, Wright was the effective offensive presence, leading all players with 24 points.

Wright had plenty of help, as the other four starters each reached double figures to help the team reach 86 points. Maximo Milovich came through with 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. Milovich was dominant inside, going six-for-eight from the floor for a 75.0 field goal percentage.

A pair of Eagles finished with 16 points, including Cappo and Daniel Esparza. Erik Howlin was the final double-digit scorer for BU with 15 points for himself.

Biola did not have its best performance from beyond the arc, going 3-15 from deep but was able to find an edge on the glass. BU outrebounded the Sharks, 33-28, with 16 offensive boards that turned into 21 second-chance points.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday, taking on Chaminade at 5:00 pm PST.
