Top-10 Opponent, Tough Outcome

Biola battled ninth-ranked CSU San Bernardino on Saturday and went even in the second half in a weekend loss.

POMONA, Calif. --- The PacWest-CCAA Challenge finished off on Saturday for the Eagles (2-2) in Pomona. Biola men's basketball took the floor against No. 9 CSU San Bernardino (4-0) and came up short in the 82-62 loss in the late afternoon contest.

Biola gave a good push in the early going, scoring on three-straight possessions to earn a lead. Alex Wright and Daniel Esparza went back-to-back on three-pointers and the duo combined for the team's first eight points.

CSUSB found their groove offensively to pull ahead and gradually build a double-digit lead in the first half. In the first half, the Yotes converted on over 63 percent of their shots from the field and from three-point land. Through 20 minutes CSUSB posted 50 points compared to 31 from Biola.

After the break, the BU defense returned to form and the two teams were evenly matched. The second half  saw a 32-31 scoreline in favor of the Yotes with the CCAA team shooting just over 35 percent from the field.

Four Eagles reached double figures in the points column on Friday. Wright and Maximo Milovich matched for the team-high at 14 points. Esparza and Tyus Parrish-Tillman joined the club with exactly 10 points.

Biola found success at the free throw line, sinking 15 shots on 21 attempts. Milovich and Parrish-Tillman led the way with four and six free throws, respectively, as the team outscored CSUSB by eight at the line.

BU will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:30 when they play on the road at CSU Dominguez Hills.
