Rossow Paces BU in Exhibition

Chris Rossow led the Eagles in a preseason matchup against NCAA Division I Long Beach State.

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- Biola traveled to Long Beach on Friday night to take on NCAA Division I Long Beach State in an exhibition contest. The Beach got the best of the Eagles with a 82-65 final score.

Chris Rossow highlighted the night for BU, leading the team in points, field goals and free throws, while tying for the team-high in rebounds and assists. The fifth-year guard tallied 22 points with eight rebounds and two assists.

Overall the BU offense struggled to get going on Friday, shooting 33.8 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from downtown. The second half looked much better for the visiting Eagles, as they sank 14 field goals at a 41.2 percent clip.

The Beach took control of the competition in the opening half with multiple scoring runs. The big rally came in a six-minute stretch that saw LBSU go on a 16-0 run.

BU would not go down without a fight, showing what they were capable of in the second half. Keeping the game in reach at 56-38, Biola made a push to remain competitive in the final stretch of the game.

With 15 minute remaining, BU posted nine-straight points to cut its deficit to nine. Four different Eagles scored in the rally, including a three-pointer from Whitten Dominguez. In the stretch, the BU defense did its job, forcing a turnover and 0-3 shooting from LBSU.

The host team responded with another rally of its own, rebuilding a strong double-digit advantage. LBSU would hold on for the 17-point 82-65 final margin.

Dominguez was BU's second leading scorer on Friday. The guard reached double-digit scoring with 13 points on the night, while also adding a pair of steals in 31 minutes on the court.

Biola will return to action against CSU Los Angeles in the CCAA-PacWest Challenge hosted by Concordia next Friday at 7:00 pm.
