LA MIRADA, Calif. --- June has been a big month for Biola Baseball with a number of student-athletes delivering great performances for their teams across the country. 

Biola alum Troy Stainbrook was assigned to the GCL Nationals on June 24th after being drafted in the 30th round of the MLB First Year Player Draft while his former shortstop Connor Kostecka became the first Eagle to make an All-Star appearance this summer when he played in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League All-Star Game for the Boulder Collegians on June 26th.

Kostecka figures to be the first of a few all-stars for the Eagles, as several of his teammates who were freshmen or sophomores this past season have also posted nice stat lines. Because of playing time and success at the plate, Biola's next best chance for all-star selections this summer will be with the All-PacWest infielders who are placed in Wyoming. At the time of writing, Jackson Collins and RobertAnthony Cruz are the two leading hitters for the Casper Horseheads and each have at least nine extra-base hits in 17 games. 

Collins has essentially flipped the switch at the plate in the past two weeks to raise his batting average into the .350's. In the nine games he's played since June 16th, Collins has hit all five of his homeruns and worked eight walks. He's particularly owned the Badlands Bigsticks during his hot streak, as Collins has gone 9-for-11 in three games against that opponent, including a 3-for-3 day on June 19 where he was a triple shy of the cycle and a 5-for-6 day with four runs scored on June 25th.

Cruz has been the Horseheads best hitter since the start of the summer after collecting three walkoff hits in a six-day span shortly after arriving in Wyoming. While primarily playing shortstop and hitting third, Cruz has led his summer team in hits (27) and RBI's (22) and has yet to see his on-base percentage drop below .400. He posted an eight-game hitting streak from June 6 to June 15 and is currently hitting .386. 

Around the time Cruz was carving up the Expedition League with his eight-gamer, outfielder Brandon Cody was hitting at a similar pace in Alaska. During a five-game hitting streak with the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks, Cody drove in 10 runs, hit four extra-base hits and had four multi-hit games. He followed that up with back-to-back games where he worked two walks and hopes to stay locked in at the plate headed into July. 

Chinooks teammate Joey Leavitt currently has the second-best ERA on the team at 2.38 and has only allowed one extra-base hit while Honus Kindreich has posted nine strikeouts in just over 10 innings and has turned in four scoreless outings. 

Several other Eagles have also posted more than respectable numbers on the mound this past month. Kenny Carrillo concluded his stint with the Waterloo Bucks with a 3.44 ERA and 10 strikeouts in six appearances. Honus' brother Larson Kindreich has continued to rack up strikeouts with the Santa Barbara Foresters of the California Collegiate League, fanning 14 in just over nine innings of work to record a 2.89 ERA. 

Larson Kindreich has allowed just one more earned run than Tyler Mead, who has earned the nickname of "Sheriff" for the Lincoln Potters after getting three early saves for the Potters and repeatedly answering the bell in late innings. Mead's two runs allowed to along with 14 strikeouts in 15 innings of work this summer make him Biola's best pitcher of the month among the host of good candidates.
