Biola Cross Country has another fantastic season and begins to reap rewards.

November 05, 2019

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second time in as many seasons, Gabe Plendcio earns PacWest Conference Runner of the Year honors. Also repeating with a major annual award is Head Coach Sean Henning, who takes PacWest Conference Men's Coach of the Year honors.

The conference office officially announced its year-end honors Tuesday, with Plendcio and Henning leading the way on the men's side.

"I am proud of the way Gabe's run this year. He's been committed to being great in all the areas he can control. He doesn't care much about awards, but I am proud of him for his accomplishments this year. This is well deserved."

The men's team won its second PacWest Championship in a row, paced by Plendcio who also won the league's individual title for back-to-back years.

"Sean has done a tremendous job of leading these teams into and through this NCAA transition," said Associate Athletic Director Eddie Shepard. "The success his programs have had is a direct representation of the hard work he and his staff put in to have them prepared. We are very proud and look forward to continued success from Biola Cross Country."

Also announced were the three All-PacWest teams for both men and women's cross country. These were decided and announced on race day at the PacWest Championships, with Biola runners accounting for 10 of the league's 42 all-conference awards.

"We are proud of the top-7 on the guy's side for stepping up and going out to perform well to get the job done. On the ladies' side, we thought the three that were all-conference did a great job and we were just outside on three others."

Both teams are back in action this Saturday at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships. It's the first NCAA Division II postseason of any kind for any Biola program. More details on the meet to follow.
