NORCO, Calif. --- With an opening at second base headed into the 2018 season, new signee Kylie Velasco will throw her glove into the competition for a starting spot in Head Coach Lorie Coleman's lineup.
 
"Kylie is extremely talented in the game and is a perfect fit for Biola Softball," said Coleman. "She knows how to perform in big game situations and will have an immediate impact to our lineup as a freshman."
 
Velasco comes to the Eagles after prepping three varsity seasons at Norco High School. She contributed to a CIF-SS Division I championship in 2015 for the Cougars and played six years of travel ball on the same Corona Angels team as former Eagles' standouts Brooke and Bria Madrid.
 
"I chose Biola because it's a great university with a fantastic coaching staff," said Velasco. "I believe that being a Biola student will help me see life the way God wants me to see it."
 
Velasco's Norco team currently has a 28-game winning streak. They are 28-0 so far this season and ranked No. 1 in the nation by MaxPreps.
 
When she enrolls at Biola in the fall, she plans to study psychology or sociology.
