Softball Adds All-League Apodaca

Tori Apodaca will join Biola Softball in 2018 as a utility player.

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. --- Biola Softball added some versatility to its 2018 roster with the signing of second base/outfielder Tori Apodaca out of Canyon High School.

Apodaca joins the Eagles after three varsity seasons with the Comanches. She was named the CIF Canyon High School Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2017 and brings with her a bat and glove that earned her all-league honors as a junior.

"Within the first couple of times our coaching staff encountered Tori we knew she belongs in the Biola Softball program," said Head Coach Lorie Coleman. "She will bring light and energy to this powerful incoming freshmen class as well as academics and athleticism."

Apodaca and her high school team won the Crestview League twice during her tenure (2015 & 2016). They also made it all the way to the CIF semifinals in 2015.

During their second trip to CIF Apodaca was a huge part of the Comanches' run by hitting .376 and putting up a .976 fielding percentage.

"I chose Biola because I love the amazing community that it has, and I know it is a place where I can grow in my relationship with God while getting a top education and continuing to play the game that I love," said Apodaca.

Off the field she's very accomplished. She's a member of the National Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation; she worked in ASB all four of her high school years; she was involved with mock trial as a junior and senior and won the "Top of the Tribe" award for having a 4.0+ grade point average all four years.

Apodaca will come to campus this fall and plans to study broadcast journalism. She hopes to have a career as a sports broadcaster when she's done.
