Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Three In A Row!

Biola Men's Basketball takes care of business in Riverside to win third straight.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The good times keep on rolling for Biola Men's Basketball during this 2017-18 preseason. On Saturday evening, playing their third game in six days, the Eagles earned an 81-72 victory over La Sierra on the road.

The game was closer than it looked like it would be on paper. La Sierra used the deep ball to answer back every time it looked like the Eagles were going to pull away in the game, making this just a single-digit victory over the now 0-5 Golden Eagles.

Biola outscored the hosts by five in the first half and four in the second half to build their way to the victory. The 81 points is a new season-high output for the Eagles.

The first 20 minutes was quite exciting with five lead changes. The Eagles' 35-30 lead at the break held up as they never trailed in the second half. LSU got the game tied once or twice, including at 48-48 with 15 minutes left. Right after that tie the Eagles managed 12 points in a row to pull away for good. BU got five points from Isaiah Jones and five points from Levi Auble during that dominant stretch.

Jones was good all night long. He had to sub in early when Auble got into some foul trouble and there was zero letdown. Jones managed 24 points and 10 rebounds to notch the Eagles' first double-double of the season. He did so while making 75 percent of his shots from the floor and going 4-of-6 from the stripe.

The Eagles also got 18 from Trevor Treinen and 11 from Alex Talma. Both men scored in double figures for the second contest in a row.

After building that 12-point lead with the strong stretch in the middle of the second half the Eagles never led by less than sixth and soared straight to their first road victory of the season.

Biola's bench was key tonight as it outscored La Sierra's 30-14, with 24 of those big 30 coming from Jones. The Eagles also out-rebounded LSU 41-30, which never hurts. Ten of those 41 rebounds were on the offensive end, making it the second time this season BU had double-digit O-boards.

Tip of the cap to the Golden Eagles for their impressive 8-of-9 performance when shooting beyond the arc.

At the end of the day it's another Eagles win and pushes the team to 3-2 this season. They move on to host two contests early next week. Pomona-Pitzer (0-1) will visit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Life Pacific (4-3) plays inside of Chase Gym at 7:00 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving.
