PHOENIX, Ariz.—Biola Volleyball has added a transfer from Western Illinois who has decided to come back west to continue her volleyball career in La Mirada. Sierra Bauder has committed to Head Coach Aaron Seltzer and will join the Eagles in the fall.
 
Originally from Phoenix, Bauder attended Scottsdale Christian Academy where she was a four-year varsity member and saw some tremendous success on the court. She plans to bring the same success to the Eagles for the remainder of her collegiate career.
 
"Sierra is a girl that we tried desperately to get when she was a junior in high school," said Seltzer. "We are all super excited that she decided to come back to where I think it will be a great fit for her. We definitely needed to replace some star power in the middle and she will fill that. She is going to bring some much-needed depth to that position."
 
In her time at Scottsdale Christian, Bauder earned an all-state second team selection, an all-division second team selection and an all-section second team selection. In 2012, she led the entire state in hitting percentage (.518) and led the section in kills-per-game at 3.8.
 
"I chose Biola because I want to continue my education and love of volleyball in a Christ-centered school," said Bauder.
 
She saw limited playing time at Western Illinois where she played one year for the Leathernecks. She earned a spot on the 2015 University of Kansas Volleyball Invitational all-tournament team.
 
Bauder is an excellent student and achieved a 4.0 GPA in her last semester at Western Illinois and earned a spot on the Dean's List. She plans to major in human biology and hopes to one day become a neonatal nurse.
