Schott Adds Depth Up The Middle

Biola is looking to replace another All-American middle blocker, and Leanna Schott will play part in that.

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Having a great middle blocker is generally harmonious with having a great volleyball program. Biola Volleyball has had both over the past decade under Head Coach Aaron Seltzer, and now he adds Leanna Schott in an effort to bolster that position for the 2016 season.

"Leanna is a super athletic girl with a great personality," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "She has a lot of energy and did a super great job at Pierce. We are hoping that she can come in and fill our need in the middle. We feel like she will be a very good fit."

Schott comes to Biola after spending two seasons at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. The Brahmas have a culture of winning established with three state titles since 2010 and 13 conference titles in the last 15 years.

Schott's time at Pierce was no different as she helped the team to a 31-3 overall record and a spot in the state finals in 2015. Schott racked up 213 total kills in 34 sets that season and led the team with a .336 hitting percentage. She also led the team with 67 blocks.

She joined the Pierce College program straight out of high school where she spent three years on varsity and was the team captain at West Torrance High School.

"Biola is everything I was looking for in a university," said Schott. "The fact I also get to play the sport I love is just toppings on the cake."

Schott will join the Eagles' this summer and enter the university in the fall of 2016. She plans to major in public relations with the goal of entering a career as a PR specialist.
