MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. --- The official competition of the Biola Men and Women's Tennis seasons came to a close with losses in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday.

Biola Men's Tennis suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of No. 1 seed Westmont, while the women's team suffered a 5-0 loss to the No. 1 seed in the women's tournament, also Westmont.

Both matches were played under the tournament format and ended as soon as the winning team clinched its fifth match.

The men's team was in position to win a second match in singles to tighten things up.
David Garcia led his match in the No. 5 position with a 6-1 set one win, but then he had to retire due to the sweltering spring heat in the desert. That retirement clinched the win for the No. 16 Warriors.

Biola's lone victory came at No. 1 doubles where
Lucas Lee and
Luke Mountain battled head-to-head with another top pairing in the region. Biola's pair earned their 11
th victory of the season with the 8-6 win. It solidified an 11-10 season record with all but one of their matches played at No. 1.

The other two doubles matches came off the court relatively quickly as Biola suffered 8-2 and 8-1 losses. Biola was trailing in the three singles matches that remained unfinished.

The women's team had a tall task ahead of it as it faced the team that has won 12 GSAC Championships and three GSAC Tournament Championships and dominated conference play with an 8-1 mark this season.

The Warriors worked a 3-0 advantage with 8-3, 8-6 and 8-4 wins in doubles and then led in all six singles matches in wrapping up the 5-0 win to make Biola exit the tournament field after two days of play at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Kathryn Ashford and
Brooke Sanford came closest to earning a match win for the Eagles. They led at No. 2 doubles for a good portion of the match before ultimately suffering an 8-6 defeat.

Biola Men's Tennis ends its season at 11-12, while the women finish with a 6-16 overall record. Both teams will compete at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament from Friday through Sunday as they wrap up the 2016 calendar.
