LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Superlatives like these are what get basketball fans and players excited. Biola climbed near the ceiling of its potential on Saturday, executing its game plan in all four quarters for a 107-52 victory over La Sierra. The 107 points are the most an Eagles Women's Basketball team has scored in a game since scoring 130 in a win against Whittier College in 1979.

"It's great to see the players really reap the fruit of their buy-in to sharing the ball and playing team defense tonight," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "One of our major goals is to play a complete game and our players did that tonight by valuing every minute they were on the floor."

The Eagles scored at least 25 points in every quarter on Saturday and had five players reach double-digits in scoring; it marks the first time either of those two things has happened for Biola since collegiate women's basketball switched to playing four quarters last season.

Biola also had two players post double-doubles tonight: Annie Park with 12 points, 14 assists, and Emma Newman with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The double-doubles are firsts for both players and contain career-highs for both Park and Newman.

Park's 14 assists not only surpass her previous best of eight, but the mark also ties Linda Kaufmann's program-record for assists in a game. Newman also re-wrote portions of her personal record book with her contributions tonight, as she had not scored more than 12 points or had more than eight rebounds before Saturday in her 19 games as an Eagle.

"Annie's 14 assists just showcases her complete game and how she contributes for us regardless of how she is shooting," said Nakamura. "Emma just contributed in all areas of the game, even beyond her stats, because she brings a good work rate and because she is a versatile player."

Biola could tell something special was in the works a few minutes into the second quarter. After La Sierra went 3-for-10 from the field in the first quarter and weathered a seven-minute gap between field goals, the visiting team ran into a similar drought from the field in the second quarter. Biola kept their opponents from making any field goals for the last 6:43 of the second period and caught fire on the other end.

During that span at the end of the second, the Eagles' lead ballooned from 13 points to 32. Biola had five individual scorers during the closing minutes of the first half and shot a combined 9-for-17 with 12 rebounds and eight assists.

It was the ever-dependable DeMoria White who had the hot hand when the Eagles ran away with things. The junior point guard scored 11 unanswered points all by herself in the second quarter to propel Biola to the 53 points it had entering the break.

"Tonight's score was just an example of the way our players worked the ball around for the best shot," said Nakamura. "Our players sincerely want to see each other succeed and got really excited when their teammates scored to come through for the team."

The Eagles truly rode a balanced, yet potent attack through the entire game, scoring between 25 to 30 points in all four periods. By the end of the game, nine individual Eagles had an assist, 10 scored at least five points, and 11 had at least two rebounds.

Biola will try to extract all the confidence they can from this game headed into the rest of the season. Its next matchup is Thursday on the road against Antelope Valley at 5:30 p.m.
