LA MIRADA, Calif. --- To say that it was the most meaningful home victory of the 2014 season would be a bit of an understatement as Biola dethroned the reigning national champion University of Texas at Brownsville Ocelots in five grueling sets inside Chase Gymnasium on Oct. 23, 2014.
 
It was a matchup of two of the top-5 teams in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll, but more importantly it was a rematch of the 2013 NAIA National Championship Finals.
 
The Ocelots took home the title with a 3-0 victory in that final match in 2013, so naturally the Eagles were eager to put forth a stronger effort in this regular season match in front of a home crowd.
 
Biola Volleyball did just that in its 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 15-7) victory over UTB in what would end up being the last ever meeting between the two programs as the Ocelots' athletics programs were dissolved after the 2014 season in a merger with another UT campus.
 
A blown lead in the competitive third set looked like it may cost Head Coach Aaron Seltzer's squad in this one as the Ocelots took a 2-1 lead through the first two sets. However, a strong defensive effort in the fourth and fifth sets and some great attacking in the fifth helped Biola run away with the match late.
 
"I'm very proud of the girls. They stayed committed to the plan we had going into the match," said Seltzer. "Our girls stayed physical and put the pressure on them, even after going down. That was a very, very good Brownsville team and I thought we kept up with them and finished great."
 
The win against UTB was Biola's ninth in a row and improved the team record to 21-4 at the time. The team would go on to win up to 21 matches in a row, improving to 32-4 before their next, and final, loss came in the NAIA National Championship Semifinals.
 
The team would finish the year ranked No. 3 in the NAIA with a 32-5 record and senior Amy Weststeyn was named AVCA/NAIA Player of the Year.
