Eagles Add Power Arm

Paula Damas commits to join Biola Softball in 2017.

WHITTIER, Calif. --- Biola Softball fans will have to wait a year, but the program has a major arm coming in 2016-17 with the commitment of Paula Damas.

Damas has played softball since the age of seven and has spent the last three seasons as a varsity standout at La Salle High School.

She became the varsity started during her freshman season and has three all-league honors through her first three seasons in the circle for the Lancers. She's also added defensive player of the year honors, team MVP honors and recognition on the local all-area teams.

"Paula is an excellent pickup for our Biola Softball program," said Head Coach Lorie Coleman. "We expect her to be an impact pitcher right away in her freshman year. She has a great future career awaiting her at Biola."

Damas has combined a low ERA (1.64) with a high GPA (3.49 and above every year) to make her a well-rounded student-athlete. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation.

She enters Biola in the fall of 2016 and plans to study psychology. She hopes for a career working with children as a children's psychologist.

"I chose Biola because it is a school with a great academic program, a strong and talented softball team and, most importantly, it offers me the opportunity to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ," said Damas.
