HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. --- The 2017 Softball season will be Biola's first without star backstop Bria Madrid. Kayla Neff looks to fill that slot as the local team captain catcher commits to join Biola Softball.
 
Neff is entering her senior year at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California. She's played on varsity in each of her first three seasons and has an offensive MVP award and all-league first team honors already under her belt.
 
"Kayla is not only a much needed catcher, but she packs a big bat," said Head Coach Lorie Coleman. "She will be a great blessing to the Biola Softball program on and off the field."
 
Neff appeared in 25 games for the Chargers in 2015, hitting .457 with 23 RBI and an on-base percentage above .500. According to MaxPreps.com Neff's offensive numbers were better than the national average in all categories.
 
"I chose Biola because it allows me to build my relationship with Christ, have a Christian atmosphere in my academic studies and play the sport I love with a team that has the same love for Jesus and softball as I do," said Neff.
 
Neff is currently undecided as far as major and career goals go, but she will enter the university in the fall of 2016 and can be seen at Freedom Field in spring 2017.
