POMONA, Calif. --- Amber Godinez brings experience, spirit and a wide range of athletic ability to Biola's cross country and track & field programs as she commits to be an Eagle.
 
Godinez comes to Biola after two seasons competing at Mt. San Antonio College, where she led the Mounties to a runner-up finish at the CCAAA state competition. Prior to that she had a successful career at South Hills High School, where she captained the cross country team and the Huskies pole valuters.
 
"I can tell Amber will fit in seamlessly with the family-like community on our women's team," said Assistant Coach Collin Christensen. "She is a fantastic all-around athlete and we are looking forward to seeing her try her hand at some different events."
 
The junior comes in with experience in the 400m hurdles, pole vault and the 4x400m relay among other events. Her versatility will help the Eagles' 2015-16 teams, which will be comprised primarily of new members.
 
In her time at Mt. SAC Godinez made the school's honor roll in 400m hurdles and received the Dr. Ernest Gregoire Award for contributions to the team and exhibiting team spirit.
 
As a Huskie, she spent three seasons on the varsity track team and two on varsity cross country. She rose quickly in the team ranks on the cross country squad, earning most improved honors and becoming captain in just her second varsity season.
 
She will look to make a similar impact in her shortened time with the Eagles.
 
"Biola was the best path for me to choose in following my career goals and maintaining a close relationship with Jesus Christ," said Godinez.
 
Godinez begins at Biola in fall of 2015. She is a liberal studies major who plans on becoming a special education teacher.
