SANTA ANA, Calif. --- With Bria Madrid entering her final season in red, black and white, Biola Softball in looking for a catcher to fill her place. Dany Espinoza will be a part of filling that void as she commits to join the Eagles in 2017.
 
Espinoza has had a fantastic first three seasons at Segerstrom Fundamental High School, earning all-league recognition twice and winning two specialized team awards for the Jaguars.
 
"Dany is a catcher with good fundamentals and a quick transfer," said Head Coach Lorie Coleman. "We are looking forward to all that she will bring to the Biola Softball program."
 
She was named the rookie of the year during the 2013 softball season and earned defensive player of the year in 2015. Both of those seasons she was named to the all-league first team.
 
In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Espinoza served as the Vice President of her campus chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
 
"I chose Biola because it is a Christian school, and it is a great opportunity for me to grow spiritually, academically and still play the sport I love," said Espinoza.
 
She plans to study biological science and hopes for a career in Geriatrics. Espinoza graduates from Segerstrom Fundamental HS in spring of 2016 and starts at Biola that fall.
