Semifinal Stomp

Biola will look to rebound tomorrow after a 9-0 loss to CUI in the first semifinal of the GSAC Tournament.

Box Score IRVINE, Calif. --- Brittani McGue is not supposed to be the ace of the 2015 Concordia Eagles pitching staff, but she sure looked like it on Friday evening, holding No. 18 Biola scoreless in the first of two semifinal opportunities at the 2015 GSAC Softball Tournament.

McGue tossed a complete game shutout and added five strikeouts looking to keep Biola from crossing the plate despite getting runners on base in just about every inning. The senior got the win as her offense backed her up with a nine-spot, getting Concordia the first spot in the tournament championship on Saturday with a 9-0 win.

Every other inning equaled some offense for No. 4 Concordia, which scored runs in the first, third, fifth and seventh innings. The final score is deceiving as the game was close throughout, with CUI only extending the gap to nine runs with a five-run seventh frame.

Biola stranded 10 runners over the seven innings, hitting .000 with runners in scoring position and just .133 with runners on. In contrast, Concordia hit .353 with runners on and posted a .308 batting average with two outs, including all five runs in the seventh coming with two outs.

Concordia blasted three big flies to put up most of their crooked numbers in an outing that really became immediately forgettable for Biola.

BU drops into the consolation bracket of the tournament and faces No. 6-seed San Diego Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. If Biola wins that one they immediately face CUI in the Championship series, in which Biola would need two wins and CUI just one.
