Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Well, for being named the NAIA Network Game of the Week, this one did not disappoint. The Eagles and Warriors' regular season finale saw both teams trade leads in the final minute, but No. 15 Westmont took the last lead and held it, 68-67, to send Biola into the playoffs on a two-game losing streak.
Â
Biola finishes in fifth place of the Golden State Athletic Conference despite the loss tonight. As such, Biola will head to No. 18 The Master's College for the first round of the GSAC tournament. The Eagles' fifth-place finish and .500 conference win percentage equal last year's squad. It is also the fourth time that the team has finished .500 or better in conference in the last five seasons.
Â
With under 30 seconds left in the game and the shot-clock in single-digits, senior
Chelsea Hill found the ball, took one dribble, and drained the go-ahead jumper in between defenders. On the subsequent possession, Westmont's Cora Chan found herself open for one of the four shots she took on the night, and she drained it, leaving just five seconds for a desperate Biola drive and heave that came after the buzzer anyway. It is another gutting loss for an Eagles team that has seen its share of heartbreak. On the season, it is their fifth loss of six points or less, including three by just one point. This list isn't even counting last week's overtime, stomach-punch loss to No. 6 Concordia in which the Eagles missed three final-drive shot attempts under the basket.
Â
With an 11-point deficit at halftime in this one, Biola fans can be forgiven for any doubts or channel switching, especially on the heels of Tuesday's lackluster performance against TMC. However, a 12-2 run in the middle of the second half, ignited by a
Dani Kennedy three-pointer, drew the game quickly back into attention. Kennedy would finish with 10 points in the second half as a spark off the bench.
Â
However, the resurgent
Chelsea Hill is the biggest source of optimism for the Eagles out of this one. She dominated, scoring 18 points in just the second half en route to 24 total. She missed only four shots on the night, including a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. The 24 points is her second-most of the season and her first game of 20 or more points since Jan. 7. If Hill continues to be a force along with Biola's surging guards, they could be very dangerous in the tournament.

The first round of the GSAC tournament will be March 4 as the Eagles head Santa Clarita to face No. 18 The Master's College at 7:30 p.m.
