Biola gets two wins via run-rule in an explosive day at the plate in Prescott.

Bria Madrid hit two homeruns on Friday. She's got two two-homerun days this year.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- Biola bashed the ball over and over and over and over and over and over the wall in two run-rule wins over Embry-Riddle on Friday afternoon. The Eagles' six homeruns powered a 27-run explosion in the 11-0 and 16-2 victories on day one of this Arizona road trip.

The offense was a welcomed sight after Biola posted a total of three runs at home on Tuesday, dropping the first two games of Golden State Athletic Conference play to Vanguard. Whatever Head Coach Lorie Coleman did to get the bats going worked.

The Eagles had 15 hits in the opener, scoring in four of the first five innings to end the game after Embry-Riddle's 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth.

Bria Madrid and Heather Hall got the two homeruns in that game, going a combined 4-for-7 with five runs scored and four RBI. Selina Sherlin also had a strong game, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and two doubles, making Biola's 1-4 hitters lethal.

Reba DePriest and Kimmy Triolo combined for the shutout of the ERAU hitters. DePriest got the start and pitched three of the five innings, striking out four and surrendering just one hit. Triolo capped the game with two perfect innings.

Game two saw a strong wind begin to blow out toward center field and Biola's batters took advantage of it. The Eagles again got 15-plus hits (16) in just five innings and again scored in four of the five chances to bat, including an eight-spot in the fifth.

Four Eagles went deep in this one, including another from Bria Madrid, making it her second two-homerun day of the season. Also going yard was Sherlin (3), Spadt (1) and Kasey Hormel (1).

Hormel had a massive second game, going 3-for-3 with a walk and having a hand in six of Biola's 16 runs. She had three runs scored and four RBI (including her two-run shot).

Hall also reached base in every at bat in the second game, going 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. She scored two of the times she found herself on the base paths.

Kendall Maddox was Coleman's starting pitcher in this one and held ERAU scoreless through 2.0 innings of work. Terri Van Dagens made her first appearance in this one in the third inning. She allowed a double and a runner got on base via an error before she worked out of that jam.

She couldn't work out of a jam in the fourth inning, allowing three straight doubles to score Embry-Riddle's two runs of the day. DePriest came in and pitched the final 1.2 innings without allowing a hit.

The Eagles improved to 12-6 overall with the two massive victories. It is the third and fourth times this season Biola's won via run-rule. Three of those four wins cam against ERAU. Embry-Riddle dropped to 1-17 with the two losses.

Biola gets back to its GSAC slate tomorrow with a doubleheader at Arizona Christian (3-1) beginning at 12:00 p.m. All of ACU's four games to this point in the season are against Embry-Riddle.
