AZUSA, Calif. --- The Eagles' incredibly tough road toward postseason play continued on Wednesday as they had to face Azusa Pacific on the road just one day after facing No. 4 Vanguard.
Biola took an 8-1 loss against the Cougars, marking their third consecutive loss. Each of the three losses came against incredibly strong opponents that were either ranked in the NAIA or a part of the NCAA.
The Eagles will face another ranked opponent on Saturday as they conclude their regular-season campaign with a road match at Westmont.
Today was a struggle from the outset, as the Cougars controlled the play throughout doubles and established a commanding 3-0 lead headed into singles competition.
Singles play did not get started to well either, as
Isaiah Pekary had to sub in at the No. 1 slot only to face the No. 7 singles player in the NCAA DII, Frederik Wilkens. Wilkens dominated in a straight-set (6-0, 6-0) win to make it a 4-0 match.
Joseph Remington held
Rodric Pence without a single game win at No. 5 to clinch the win and make it 5-0 through two completed singles matches.
Chris Evans earned Biola's lone match win on the afternoon in a straight-set sweep at No. 6. He defeated Sasha Kingsley 6-2 and 6-4 to at least get Biola on the scoreboard.
It was just Evans' fourth appearance in singles play this season and was his first win.
