Box Score ROCKLIN, Calif. --- With the largest lead being nine-points and lasting all of 15 seconds, this game's first 30 minutes were the definition of back-and-forth. The second half was even tighter with Biola and William Jessup each threatening to pull away only for the other to fire back on a run of its own.
Â
With just under nine minutes to go, the Eagles finally put everything together as
Aubree Mittel connected on two three-pointers during a 50 second 8-2 run, and the defense took over to allow the Warriors just four more points through the remainder of the game.
Â
The final score hides an intense, contested game thanks to the 21-8 closing run by the Eagles. Mittel hitting her second and third triples of the contest got the run started, and
Taylor Casey pushed the game fully out of reach with seven points over the last three minutes.
Â
Mittel and Casey carried the Eagles with 32 combined points off the bench, taking over for Biola's generally ineffective starters. The two were the only players in double-digits for Biola, with each setting their season-high for points.
Â
Biola's three leading point scorers for the season,
Chelsea Hill,
Elizabeth Munger and
Annie Park, combined for just 13 points as the Warriors defense keyed in on them all night. Park and Munger attempted just three shots a piece against the aggressive William Jessup defense.
Â
The win gives the Eagles a 2-0 start to the Golden State Athletic Conference season, a 180 flip from the 0-2 GSAC openings of the last two years. Biola takes a break from conference play in their next game as it hosts Pomona-Pitzer to start an eight-game homestand.
