Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Behind
Annie Park's continued leadership on offense and the team's continued defensive dominance, Biola made a strong case that its impressive preseason play would carry through to its Golden State Athletic Conference slate.
With just over a week since their last game, it made sense that the Eagles would be a little rusty.
Annie Park turned it over on the first possession,
Chelsea Hill had a missed layup and a turnover.
Amanda Darouie even missed an open shot as San Diego Christian shot out to a 7-0 lead.
And then, Biola shook the rust off in a big way.
Park slashed to the rim for a basket. Hill went to work in the post for another. Park again.
Elizabeth Munger got out on the break for a bucket. On the other end, slashing Hawks players were met with the outstretched arms of Hill, Munger and
Taylor Casey. Casey and Munger would each pick up a block for their efforts. Biola went up six, then nine, and then they kept pushing their lead all the way to a 17-point lead 20 minutes in that effectively put the game out of reach.
The Eagles would pummel the Hawks across the box score: 17-5 in offensive rebounds, forcing 24 turnovers, getting to the free-throw line more, and holding the Hawks to just 10 made field goals, 23.8 percent, for the entire 40 minutes of play.
Park, for the third straight game, served as the catalyst on offense. The junior guard attacked early, found Biola's shooters and forwards and punished defenders with a 3-of-3 display from beyond the arc. Her 15 points ties her season-high, set in the last game, and is her fourth double-digit point total in the last five games.
Chelsea Hill again impressed, scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Her performance tonight leaves her just 11 points shy of 1000 for her Biola career, and she happens to be averaging exactly 11 points per game this season.
The win moves Biola to 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in GSAC. San Diego Christian falls to 3-5 (0-1 GSAC). Continuing the GSAC slate, Biola takes the long ride out to Rocklin, California on Saturday for their first conference meeting against new GSAC member William Jessup (0-8).
