Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's offense had a record-setting day inside Chase Gymnasium. They nailed 49 kills in 73 attacks with just six errors, equating to a program-best .589 hitting percentage in a 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-15) sweep over William Jessup.
Â
The huge hitting performance comes just two days after the Eagles hit .488 to get the third-best attacking performance in team history. Biola has hit a minimum of .413 over the previous three matches.
Â
It was a 56-minute match that saw Biola dominate throughout and get some opportunities for a few players not normally in Head Coach
Aaron Seltzer's standard rotation.
Â
Cassie Mulder had a fine match, getting time at outside hitter in each of the three sets. The sophomore worked her way to six kills in nine attempts, hitting .444. The six kills were three times more than her previous match-high this season.
"I loved the energy Olivia (Sorensen) and Cassie brought today," said  Seltzer.
Â
Another change from the norm saw
Tess Van Grouw get two sets at libero. She recorded a team-high 11 digs on the afternoon and successfully received 14 serves.
Â
Biola had its own struggles at service, posting seven service errors on the afternoon. Strangely enough, the team posted more service errors than it had attacking errors.
Â
The Eagles' attackers blew away the old program record for team hitting percentage. The previous program record was .507 and was set against Santa Cruz on Sept. 9, 2000.
Â
Lauren Hoenecke and
Amy Weststeyn tied one another with 12 kills for the second time in the last three matches and led the Eagles. Weststeyn went 12-for-17 without an error. She was second among individuals with a .706 attack percentage.
Alyssa Mason set the best mark with a 6-for-8 .750.
"I loved seeing Ashton and Allison connect with the middles regularly, that really opened everything up today," said Seltzer.
Â
Olivia Sorensen teamed with Weststeyn to help Biola lead the game in blocks in a big way. The two each had five block assists, all together. Biola recorded seven total team blocks while William Jessup could not get a hand on anything.
Â
The No. 5 Eagles move to 16-4 (6-1 GSAC) and the Warriors fall to 0-16 (0-7 GSAC). Biola faces another set of Warriors on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. as they host Westmont.
