Box Score COSTA MESA, Calif. --- A competitive game was a longshot from the start as Biola hit the road to face No. Vauguard on Saturday night, and it did not get much better for the Eagles as the game dragged along.
Â
The Lions threw up 71 total shots on the night as they cruised to an 87-32 victory, handing Biola their 13
th loss of the season and second straight Golden State Athletic Conference loss.
Â
Adijat Adams got into foul trouble early and logged just 14 minutes on the hardwood, taking a huge piece out of Biola's offensive and defensive gameplan. She ended the night with zero points scored, her first time shooting a blank this year.
Â
Chelsea Hill was the lone bright spot for the Eagles, putting up a team-high 15 points and shooting 7-9 on a night when the team as a whole went just 13-56 from the floor.
Â
The junior forward also picked up seven of the Eagles' 43 rebounds. Adams was also big on the boards for BU, grabbing nine.
Â
Biola came out of the gate competitively, holding tight with Vanguard through the first six and a half minutes, keeping within two points at 10-8.
Â
After that time, the hitch fell off the wagon and Biola quickly saw all hope of a competitive game slip away. Samantha Doucette took over to help the Lions begin to build their insurmountable lead. She scored eight of VUSC's 15 points as the Lions went on a 15-2 run to build a 15-point lead.
Â
The Lions had four players in double-digits and got 23 apiece out of Doucette and Nicole Ballestero as they led all scorers. Taylor Belmont got 14 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists to put up a triple-double. She was the only player to get double-digits in multiple categories.
Â
Ball control was a huge issue for the Eagles tonight, as they turned the ball over 24 times and were only able to get five balls back from VUSC.
Â
Vanguard improves to 13-0 (2-0 GSAC) with the win and drops Biola to 5-13 (0-2 GSAC). The Eagles return to Chase Gym on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. for a meeting with San Diego Christian.
