Box Score HELENA, Mont. --- It was another disappointing day in Montana for women's soccer as they dropped their second straight, leading to an 0-2 early season road trip.
On paper the Eagles played a strong offensive game against the Carroll College Fighting Saints, as they dominated possession and outshot the Saints 12-8. However, Biola could not convert any of their chances and lost 1-0 to Carroll.
It was an impressive defensive display put on by the opponents as the Saints organized defense managed to hold BU's well-structured offense off the board.
"We had the ball a majority of the time," said Head Coach
Todd Elkins. "But we struggled to break down their defense on a consistent basis."
Biola's defense put up just as strong a showing through the first 87 minutes, keeping the Fighting Saints off the board as well, and limiting their number of good looks.
However, a defensive breakdown on a cross hit in by a Carroll forward in the 88
th minute led to an own goal, which eventually sunk the Eagles.
Carroll moves to 2-0 on the year, and BU's loss drops them to 1-2, leaving them stunned after two incredibly hard fought games in Montana.
"We did not have as many chances as we did against College of Idaho (on Saturday)," said Elkins. "But it is another loss that is very difficult to accept."
They have a few days to rest and restore their game plan before taking on Corban at home on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
