Biola takes down Point Loma behind goals from Hayden Gehring and Adrielle Salvador to reach the PacWest championship

HILO, Hawaii --- Biola women's soccer punched their ticket to the PacWest Tournament final with a 2-1 semifinal victory over Point Loma at Vulcan Soccer Field. Hayden Gehring and Adrielle Salvador each found the back of the net, while goalkeeper Sami Robinson turned in a career-high seven-save performance to secure the Eagles' first PacWest playoff victory.

Gehring got Biola on the board early, scoring an unassisted goal in the seventh minute to put the Eagles in front. Robinson came up with two first-half saves to keep Point Loma off the scoreboard and send Biola into the break with a one-goal advantage.

The Eagles added some breathing room in the 60th minute when Salvador delivered another unassisted strike, doubling Biola's lead and ultimately providing the game-winner. With the Sea Lions pressing to get back into the match, Robinson answered the call, making five saves in the second half to protect the advantage.

Point Loma outshot Biola 14-5 and put eight attempts on target, but Robinson turned away all but one. The Sea Lions broke through on a penalty kick in the 89th minute, setting up a tense finish, but the Eagles held their ground through the final whistle to seal the historic win.

Gehring and Salvador each finished with two shots and one on goal. Robinson, Gehring, Taylin Laws, Belen Cognetta and Briley Phelps played all 90 minutes.

Biola improved to 9-5-3 on the season and will now look to make more history in the PacWest Tournament championship on Saturday, Nov. 7th at 2 p.m..
