Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Shots simply would not drop for Biola in the second half, as their shooters went cold, seeing a tight game turn into a 76-56 loss to University of Mary.
It was a very competitive first half that saw
Aubree Mittel come into her own as she drained three three-pointers and led the Eagles with 11 points at the break.
Biola found themselves playing from behind throughout most of the first half, but made a late charge due to some strong rebounding and went into the locker room with the 35-34 lead at halftime. It was just the second time this season that BU held a lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.
Adijat Adams found herself in foul trouble early yet again, but she logged some solid minutes in the second half, becoming a bright spot in what turned out to be an otherwise depressing second 20 minutes.
BU kept the game close for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but then fell victim to a huge 10-0 run by the Marauders as they saw another lead, and another game, slip through their hands.
Ashlee Harper put in six of those 10 points for the Marauders and served as a spark off the bench throughout the game for Mary. She played hard inside, but also shot the ball well outside, shooting 70 percent and tacking on 15 points in the game.
Her 15 points gave her the second most on the squad as Mary's big center, Linda Murray, got the ball a lot and shot the ball a lot to pick up 21 total points.
Kyle Dinkel parlayed a solid second half output into 12 points for the Eagles, becoming their leading scorer. Biola's shooting percentage dropped from 48 percent in the first all the way down to 21 percent in the second half. The second half shooting woes included an 0-5 from beyond the arc.
Biola's loss drops them to 0-7 and improves University of Mary to 2-0. The Eagles' 11-game home stretch continues on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. matchup with La Sierra.
