LA MIRADA, Calif. --- To play soccer at the collegiate level is impressive, to play it at a highly competitive level is equally as impressive, but to do all that and still have stellar grades in the classroom is the most impressive.

That is what is special about Biola athletes, they can compete at a high level and still walk away with nine scholar-athlete honors. Three men and six women worked their way to a 3.5 or higher grade point average throughout the season to earn the yearly academic award.
 
Daniel Chew and Morgan Aukshunas led the way for Biola, as they both added the scholar-athlete honor to the All-GSAC nod they got earlier this season. Chew was joined by Stephen Day and Scott Hayes on the men's side. All three men are also Capital One/CoSIDA academic all-district winners.
 
Aukshunas was joined by a large contingent of women, including Joana Masopust, Shea Davis, Anna Barrett, Michelle Andre and Miranda Starbeck.
 
The nine honors once again give Biola the most scholar-athlete nods among all the Golden State Athletic Conference schools, they also had more honors in cross country than any other program.
 
Westmont and Arizona Christian followed right behind the Eagles, garnering eight honors a piece, and San Diego Christian tacked on six.
 
Chew, Day and Hayes and the rest of the men's soccer team continues its season this Saturday in the GSAC tournament championship against Concordia. The game is at Concordia and kicks off at 1 p.m.
