Oh Canada!

Victoria Dalla Zanna and the seniors shine in Biola's last regular season home game of the year.

Victoria Dalla Zanna (19) had the game of her career on Tuesday, doubling her season goal output and adding an assist.
Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Before each Biola home game prayer is said and the United States National Anthem is played, tonight, on Biola's senior night, the Canadian National Anthem was added to the ceremony and that sparked something inside senior midfielder Victoria Dalla Zanna.

Dalla Zanna had the game of her life for the Eagles, picking up three goals and an assist in a 7-0 shutout over Arizona Christian. The Canadian import's seven total points tie her for the third most in a women's soccer match in Biola's history. She scored the most points for the Eagles since Rianne Schorel set the record of 10 in 2003.

"Victoria, because she is from Canada, her family does not get to see her play too often, but the way she played tonight, we should probably try to invest in getting them down here more often," said Head Coach Todd Elkins. "I know it was great for them to see that. She (Dalla Zanna) came a long way to come to Biola, and for her it was worth the risk as she has grown not only as a player, but as a person."

The Eagles ran away with the game over Arizona Christian to improve to 9-7-1 (3-5-1 GSAC) on the season, but the night was more about paying homage to BU's four graduating seniors.

Prior to the match each of the four four-year seniors was introduced and some words from the coaching staff were shared. They each received a bouquet of flowers and got to be recognized alongside their loved ones.

"It was a good night tonight, a good time to recognize the seniors," said Elkins. "All four of them were here all four years, which is pretty special. I remember recruiting them and now it seems like the years have flown by. To see them all grow here at Biola has been great, and it is great that they all love Biola."

Not only were the senior recognized before the game, but they each had a big hand in the outcome of the game as well.

Michelle Andre and Morgan Aukshunas did just what they have done all for years, and played stellar defense to hold ACU scoreless and to just four shots in the entire 90 minutes. Chrissy King continued her fantastic year by picking up two assists to push her season point total to 19, and everyone knows what Dalla Zanna did against the Firestorm.

Miranda Starbeck, Margaret Guadarrama and Mariah Ziemer also got in on the scoring for BU as Starbeck tacked on her fourth and fifth tallies of the year, Guadarrama picked up her third and Ziemer her second.

Brianna Williams picked up her seventh shutout of the season en route to her seventh win of the year, pushing above .500 once again.

The Eagles conclude their regular season on the road against The Master's College on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The coach's comments about the four seniors are below:

Michelle Andre mug
"Michelle Andre is a great ball winner and strong, physical presence in our back line. Michelle has a great ability to anticipate where the ball will end up.  She has also brought a ton of life to this team with her laughter and the excitement she brings on and off of the field.  She has a great mix of competitive drive and love for life in general and the simple joys that come when you share life together with teammates you care about."

Morgan Aukshunas mug
"Morgan Aukshunas is a four-year starter for Biola. She is and All-Golden State Athletic Conference and All-American defender. She is a two-time conference player of the week and was recently named NAIA national defensive player of the week. More than all of that, as one of two captains, she has taken on more responsibility and ownership of the team this season and has become a great leader. She is well respected by teammates and opponents alike, and she has set a high standard for our young defenders to follow."

Victoria Dalla Zanna mug
"Victoria Dalla Zanna is an extremely skillful attacking midfielder that uses her pin-point passing accuracy to create scoring opportunities for her teammates.  Willing to come a long way from her beloved Canada in hopes of finding a place she could grow, Victoria has truly flourished at Biola. It's been amazing to witness that growth and maturity over these past four years."

Chrissy King mug
"Chrissy King is a physical presence in our attack. Chrissy has scored 14 goals in her career and has scored in six of our eight wins this season.  She loves to train, and loves to compete.  Her upbeat attitude affects all those around her.  As a captain, she has led by example day in and day out.  From her freshman year until now she has not only brought her talents, but also her energy and excitement to our team and to this school.  It's hard to imagine this team without her."
