Adams Scores 26 to Lead Eagles Past Arizona Christian, 73-36

Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Adijat Adams recorded her ninth double-double, scoring 26 points and adding 14 rebounds to lead Biola to a 73-36 win over Arizona Christian University in a GSAC game on Tuesday night at Chase Gymnasium.

The Eagles move back to .500 on the season at 11-11 and wrap up the first half of GSAC play with a 2-5 record. The Firestorm fall to 4-15 and are still winless at 0-7 in their inaugural season in the GSAC.

Adams finished one point shy of her season high, hitting 11-of-17 from the field and adding 14 rebounds--seven on both the offensive and defensive ends. Amy Freet was Biola's only other player in double-figures with 10 as 10 of Biola's 16 players to see the court scored in the game.

Biola wasted no time jumping out to a big lead, outscoring Arizona Christian 25-5 over the first 12 minutes of the game. The teams went back and forth the rest of the half with the Eagles closing on a six-point run to take a 40-16 lead to the half.

In the second, Biola opened with a 15-4 run with Adams accounting for eight of those points to give the Eagles a 55-20 lead with 14:22 left and they cruised from there.

Biola dominated the glass, out-rebounding Arizona Christian 64-26. The Eagles had 22 offensive rebounds leading to a 24-6 edge in second-chance points.

Biola shot 42 percent in the game (27-of-64) while holding the Firestorm to just 20.6 percent from the field (13-of-63).

Sarah Beth Hock led Arizona Christian with 10 points.

Aubree Mittel scored eight points for the Eagles as did Elizabeth Munger with Munger adding two blocks and two steals.

The Eagles open the second half of GSAC play with a tough road contest, traveling to Costa Mesa to battle No. 3 Vanguard (15-1, 6-1 GSAC) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Biola held a lead through much of the game earlier this year when the two did battle in La Mirada, but ultimately lost 65-56.
