LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola capped off an impressive academic and athletic season with its largest haul ever as five Eagles were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released this week.

The three Eagles on the men's team were seniors Gabe Aeschilman and Brian Aukshunas along with sophomore Peter Stacy with senior Brooke Forsi and junior Rachel Stump being named to the women's team. The men's team haul marks the largest number Biola athletes represented on a single Academic All-America team. The five athletes bring the Eagles' total this season to 10 after having just six Academic All-Americans prior to the 2011-12 season.

Aukshunas, a senior from Orange, had the highest GPA of any member of the men's team, posting a perfect 4.00 in his pursuit of a business administration degree at Biola. Aukshunas placed ninth in the GSAC Cross Country Championships and was Biola's fourth finisher at the NAIA XC National Championships. In addition, he has been a member of the Dean's List in each semester at Biola.

Forsi, a senior from Soldotna, Alaska, posted a 3.46 GPA in communications disorders. She placed fifth in the 600 at the NAIA Indoor TF Championship and was a part of the 2nd-place Distance Medley Relay and 3rd-place 4x800 relay at the meet. Forsi also finished third in the 800 at the GSAC Outdoor TF Championship and was a member of the GSAC Championship 4x800 team as well as the 4x400 relay team that placed 3rd.

Aeschilman, a senior from Colfax, Washingon, had a 3.79 GPA in his quest for a degree in Business Administration. He finished fifth in the 400 and sixth in the 200 at the Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships. Aeschilman also ran on the fourth place 4x400 relay team at the GSAC Championships and placed 21st in the 600 at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Stump, a junior from Los Gatos, recorded an impressive 3.89 GPA while working towards a degree in business marketing. Stump was a member of Biola's cross country team which finished 12th at the NAIA Championships. She finished 17th at the GSAC Championship meet and 239th at the NAIA Championship meet. Stump also placed 17th in the 5,000 at the NAIA Indoor TF Meet. She was a solid competitor in the outdoor season, finishing fourth in the 10,000 at the GSAC TF Championship and competed at the NAIA Outdoor Championships. 

Stacy, a sophomore from Issaquah, Washington, posted a 3.69 GPA in his studies toward a Bio/Chem degree. He has made an immediate impact on the track squad, finishing third in the javelin, sixth in the discus and seventh in the shot put at the Golden State Athletic Conference championships. Stacy placed 14th in the javelin at the outdoor championships, moving up three spots from his seeded distance. 

The college division first-team is comprised of the NAIA, Canadian and junior colleges in Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii, Alaska and the 13 provinces and territories in Canada. Of the 21 members on the combined men's and women's teams, 13 were from the GSAC.
