LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Despite no longer being GSAC rivals, Biola University and Azusa Pacific University are set to renew what has been refered to as the "best small college rivalry in Southern California" on Friday in a non-conference game at Chase Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
The Eagles enter the game with a 7-3 overall record including a perfect 5-0 mark at home. The Cougars are 3-2 in their first season transitioning to NCAA Division II and are 2-1 away from home.
Biola and Azusa Pacific have been playing since the 1966-67 season, playing a total of 101 games against each other including 36 as GSAC rivals. The Cougars lead the all-time series 54-47, but the teams have split the last 10 games in the series.
Tickets for the game are still available. Biola students can pick up free tickets at the Biola bookstore through Noon on Friday. Azusa Pacific fans can purchase tickets
at the APU Box Office. Tickets for the general public can be
purchased online or in-person at the Biola bookstore.
