Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior Adijat Adams scored 14 points and added a career-high 17 rebounds while sophomore Amy Freet added a 13-points, 10-rebound double-double as Biola defeated Point Loma Nazarene 59-44 in a non-conference game against its former GSAC rival on Wednesday night.

The Eagles improve to 4-3 with their second-straight win while dropping the Sea Lions to 2-2 on the season.

Biola's NAIA-leading defense was on display again, holding Point Loma to just 44 points including 17 in the pivotal second half. The Eagles, who are allowing an NAIA-low 45.4 points per game, held the Sea Lions to 14.7 percent (5-of-34) shooting in the second half.

Point Loma had the early edge in the game, opening up an early 14-4 lead just over five minutes into the contest. The Sea Lions still led by 10 at 16-6 two minutes later when Biola started to close the gap with back-to-back threes from Jamie Elias and Angel Dorn.

However, the Eagles still trailed by seven with four minutes left in the first half, but used an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to take their first lead and went to the half tied at 27-27.

The teams opened the second half exchanging buckets with Point Loma going up two with a bucket by Nyla Bailey to make it 38-36 five minutes in. But Biola's offense roared to life while the defense clamped down, using a 15-0 run over the next five minutes to blow the game wide open. Over that stretch, Aubree Mittel hit a pair of three pointers while Freet added five points.

Point Loma Nazarene closed the gap to seven over the next five minutes with free throws, trailing 51-44 with 5:08 to play. But a three-pointer by Abby Boorman with 9:57 left proved to be the final field goal for the Sea Lions as Biola pulled away for the win.

Bailey led PLNU with 16 points and seven rebounds while Carlotta Kloppenburg adding 11.

Chelsea Hill reached double-figures for the Eagles with 11 points, contributing six rebounds and three assists as well.

Biola returns to action on Monday, hosting Azusa Pacific University in a showdown between the two former arch-rivals. The Eagles and Cougars clash at Chase Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
