Box Score CARSON, Calif. --- Myron Green hit an off-balance runner with 14 seconds left and Biola missed a last-second chance as Cal State Dominguez Hills beat the Eagles 75-74 in a non-conference match up on Saturday afternoon at the Torodome.
Biola suffers its second-straight loss, falling to 4-2 on the season. The Toros pick up their second-straight win to improve to 3-2 overall.
The Eagles received a solid contribution from Christopher Jones, who scored 17 points off the bench. David Cline led all scorers with 19 pints, adding five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The game was close throughout, featuring 15 lead changes and seven ties. The last tie came at 70-70 with 3:44 left and was broken by a layup from Cline with 3:24 left. The Eagles still led by three with under a minute to play when the Toros closed the gap to one on a pair of free throws by Mitrell Clark.
Biola milked the clock and Dakota Anderson took a three-pointer with 28 seconds left. The shot rattled out but Mike Kurtz pulled down the offensive rebound and kicked it out to Jones. Jones was fouled with 21 seconds left, but missed both free throws.
Dominguez Hills pulled down the rebound and quickly called timeout. After the timeout, the Toros drove the length of the floor and worked the ball inside to Green who made the off-balance shot with 14 seconds left.
Out of timeouts, the Eagles brought the ball down the court and Zack Zaragoza took a three-point shot with two seconds left. But the shot rattled off and the rebound was secured by Cal State Dominguez Hills as the horn sounded.
Biola led by as many as nine in the second half, using a long 13-0 run over a four minute span to turn a four-point deficit into a 66-57 lead with 8:12 to play. But the Toros came roaring rich track with a nine-point run over the next three minutes to tie the game back up, leading to the dramatic finish.
Both teams shot well in the game with the Toros hitting 53.8 percent in the game and Biola shooting 53.4 percent. The Eagles hit nine three-pointers in the game to CSUDH's six but also turned the ball over three more times.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Pacific Union College at 7:30 p.m. in its final tune-up before the Thanksgiving break.
